This easy tomato soup recipe is preparing one of the best cups of the soup I made. It’s shocking simple and calls only three main ingredients (butter, onions and tomatoes). Don’t let the list of short ingredients fool you, this soup is absolutely delicious.

The main components
- Tomatoes. I love canned tomatoes for this soup. They are always in the season, so I can enjoy this recipe. San Marzano or Muir Glen are my purchase. If you have fresh tomatoes, you need about 10 to 12 medium (or 2 pounds). There is no need to peel them. In the end, everything is mixed, in any case.
- Onions. I cut a big big onion in big wedge, then let them be cooked with tomatoes until it’s sweet and soft. The onion adds a pleasant taste and makes a soup creamy.
- Butter. I don’t add cream or milk to my tomato soup but use butter. Butter is cooked with tomatoes and onions, which compares the soup and tastes rich and creamy.
How to make homemade tomato soup
To make this extra easy tomato soup, add butter, onions, large or tomatoes, and water in a large basket. (I usually use water in this soup but reservoir or broth work too). Remember that you can use fresh tomatoes: their use tips with a recipe below.

Bring everything to low simmer and cook for 40 minutes. The photo and video show that our tomato soup becomes overwhelmed. It is due to butter. The onions also soften our soup cream when mixed.


Mix the soup until smooth. I usually use the immersion blender but regular blender works perfectly well. Adjust the soup with salt and pepper, then write a bowl and enjoy.

This is the easiest and delicious soup of my Tomato. I like to deliver with grilled cheese sandwiches but this is great with fragile bread or Homemade garlic bread on the side.

You will need
4 tablespoons untreated butter
1/2 big onion, cut into big wedges
1 (28-ounce) can tomatoes, we prefer whole peeled tomatoes or crushed
1 ½ cup water, low sodium Vegetable stockor chicken stock
1/2 teaspoon of sea salt or more to taste
Directions:
1Melt the butter on the medium heat in the Dutch oven or in the Great Boiler.
2Add onion wedges, water, tomatoes with their juices and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
BookletBring to cook. Cook, undisclosed, about 40 minutes. Mix from time to time and add additional salt if necessary.
ThreeMix the soup and then to taste. Soup should not be extremely smooth; Some texture is nice. The dipping blender makes its quick job or you can use blender. When using regular blender, work in smaller batches and do not fill it overly high, hot soup is expanding. Remove the Cover Center for security and cover the opening with a kitchen towel while the mixture. This issues steam and prevents messy stems.
5Keep homemade tomato soup in the refrigerator to three days or freeze up to three months.
