This is how to make my favorite old cocktailGreat for a comfortable evening. I share my purchase-recipe and some fun and easy turns to make it your own.

Adam and I fell in love with old stylized cocktails years ago when we moved to Seattle. This was our buyer for a while to order or prepare at home. We really fell hard for them. So, of course, we took some favorite tips and want to share them with you. Old fashion is perfectly simple, only three components to mix around a glass around ice.
From our photos you can see that we have a giant ice fields. These are not 100% required, but we are interested in a quick manual below. Old fashion is traditionally a whiskey cocktail (Although I shared the alternatives below). If you love whiskey, you should also look at our MANHATTAN cocktailAuthority
The main components
- Whiskey or Bourbon. Classic old-fashioned calls for whiskey or Bourbon, so if you want to permanently repay classic variations, then go with the reliable range of bottles like four roses or balls. For something more special, our friends are furious about the double oak of the wood reserves. If you want something else try to grow old rum. Older fashion in the old people had been the permanent order of Adam for years, and I saw a lot of tablecloths myself. I have seen them with brandy and, surprisingly, jinov.
- Sugar. You need a little sugar to balance the alcohol. I’m using plain syrup Because it’s really well dissolved. Simple simple syrup is good, but if you make it, try a simple brown sugar syrup that works with the caramel shades of whiskey, bourbone or dark rum.
- Bitter. We love Classic Angostura Bitters, but if you have a heliable favorite bottle with hand, try.
- Additions: I like to add with the scent and a piece of some marisho cherries add orange peel. If you watch our video, you can see a trick we’ve taken one of our favorite cocktail bars. We shoot next to a piece of orange peel, which warms the oils into the orange. It smells incredible !!

Making clean ice cubes
In our photos we used homemade cleaning icy fields. Adam has gone to full ice backgammon because we make outdated cocktails at home. Theory is that bigger, clearer ice cubes are more slowly melted in your cocktail so they don’t water your drink. They also look beautiful.

There are Fancy fixtures (especially from the beginning this manual), but we have found a wonderful DIY method for pure ice areas. Our tap water is freezing this technique, but depends on where you live, it may need to be used to be filtered or boiled. We walk you in our video method, but that’s what you expect when preparing them.
- Nest a small container with isolated carpet. We used a small rubber container and found a cheap carpet. Fill the carpet with water, making sure it covers a small container.
- Complete the mold of your industry with water, then turn on the hole with your finger. Fold the mold upside down and carefully dive it with a carpet.
- Low water level in the carpet as long as it’s even on top of the small container. Then freeze it tight.

Adam Our DIY (almost) pure ice ball on the left side of the above photo. The one on the right is a common frozen mold-way cloud. It melted slowly than the usual ice as seen below in our old stylish photo.

Perfectly obsolete cocktail
Old fashion is a simple classic cocktail with only three main ingredients. This also leaves a lot of space for your own creative turns. While Bourbon or Rye’s whiskey is traditional, don’t be afraid of making experiments. Gin, brandy and rum all over the shine in this cocktail. Especially we love depth and wealth that dark, older rum brings to the party.

Adam and Junny tips
- Rum old fashion. Adam loves this recipe instead of the elderly Dark Robert instead of whiskey or Bourbon, called the above. You may need to reduce simple sugar slightly because rom tastes sweeter.
- A simple syrup. Use simple white sugar or brown sugar in us Simple syrup recipeFor a number of the best old-fashioned I love brown sugar plain syrup. Once you have prepared, you can keep it in the fridge for about a month.
- Water add. Some people sprinkle soda or still add water to their old stylized cocktails. We suggest tasting the drink before adding any water and going from there.
